Consulting Room – Dune Health & Wellbeing
Acoustica has designed and built some advanced high performing wall and ceiling systems over the years. One such project was requested by a family at their home in Belrose. The owners wanted to improve the acoustic rating of a common wall between two rooms where one room was being converted into a music room for piano lessons and the other would be utilised as a office/study. The scope was to reduce the noise transmission as much as possible without encroaching too much on the music room space. Using one of our very high density QuietBatt products in conjunction with our patented QuietWave acoustic membrane system we were able to achieve a noise reduction of greater than 55dB for a very thin wall profile.
Another good example of a project where Acoustica has provided exceptional acoustic upgrades to existing walls and ceiling for clients is the Health market. Dune Health & Wellbeing reached out to Acoustica to determine if we would be able to improve the privacy of their offices. The concerns that the client was experiencing were that confidential conversations could clearly be heard through adjacent rooms, forcing the client to have these meetings non concurrently. This was an inefficient use of their office space.
If Acoustica could improve the performance of the consulting room wall and ceiling to reduce the noise transmission through the wall and flanking noise across the ceiling and plenum this would boost the amount of sessions the client would be able to conduct throughout the day and provide a much needed service to the community in a far quicker turn around time. The solution Acoustica provided was that we treated one side of each common wall with our patented QuietWave acoustic membrane system along with high density QuietBatts within the wall cavity. The same batts were utilised in the plenum between rooms to prevent flanking noise. The client was so pleased with the result that Acoustica was further engaged to retrofit a large kitchen area and create a teleconference room within further making efficient utilisation of the space available.

Quay Quarter – Richard Crookes Construction
When construction company, Richard Crookes Construction, sought to have the highest acoustic impact noise rating possible for the high end development “Quay Quarter” at Sydney’s Circular Quay, they turned to Acoustica. By drawing upon Acoustica’s AngelStep range of products, in this case the AngelStep Gold8, they were easily able to achieve a 6-Star rating for the desired flooring specified on the project. They were also able to do this in a very thin profile and thereby not impacting the floor to ceiling heights creating a more spacious feel to the apartment. Our expertise in acoustics and engineering ensured a seamless integration of aesthetics and performance.
Acoustica’s AngelStep has also been specified in the uniquely designed Atlassian building near Sydney’s Central Station where the architects core values focus on sustainability. The AngelStep 630 product utilises a PET that contains 100% of recycled content ensuring it meets the values set out in the design. All of the AngelStep range of products have this feature of recycled PET content.
